ピリス最後の日本公演

敬愛するピアニスト、マリア・ジョアン・ピレシュ（ピリス）が昨年末に演奏からの引退を表明し、4月に最後の来日公演があると知ったのが1月。残念ながら札幌には来ないということで、仕事のスケジュールなどを確認し、大阪公演のチケットを入手しました。

朝イチのフライトで大阪入りし、午後2時からのリサイタルを聴くためにザ・シンフォニーホールに向かいました。

すべてベートーヴェンというプログラムで、いわゆる前期、中期、後期のピアノソナタから1つずつ、8番（悲愴）、17番（テンペスト）、そして32番が演奏されました。

ピレシュの演奏は、これまで持っていたイメージよりも少しゆったり目だったと思います。時折ため息をつくような間をとることもありました。2年半前に札幌で聴いた時には「え、もう次に行っちゃうの？」と思うぐらいサラッとした演奏だったので、最後の公演だから何かが違うのかななどと考えながら聴きました。特にピアノソナタ第32番は、前回とはまったく別の演奏でした。

残響の長いホールなので音の多いところがゴチャッとしたり、過密日程のせいなのか時折ミスタッチがあったりもしましたが、僕は超絶技巧を見たいわけでもなく、大音量の響きを体感したいわけでもなく、ただただピレシュの奏でる優しい音が好きで、今回もそれを堪能しました。

32番の演奏を終え、しばし鍵盤の上で身を屈めて動かないのを見てしんみりしました。終演後は何度も拍手で呼び戻され、アンコールでベートーヴェンの6つのバガテルから第5曲を演奏してくれました。

歩く様子などを見る限りまだまだお元気そうですし、演奏者としては引退してもおそらく教育活動などは続けられるのだと思います。演奏会のために飛行機に乗って泊まりがけで遠征することはなかなかありませんが（帰省以外のプライベートのひとり旅は結婚後はじめてです）、その価値がありました。どうもありがとう。
